1. Rental Agreement
By renting a vehicle from RentalCars, you agree to these terms and conditions. The rental agreement begins at the time of vehicle pickup and ends upon return of the vehicle to the agreed location.
2. Eligibility
Renters must be at least 21 years of age (25 for luxury vehicles) and hold a valid driving license for a minimum of 2 years. A valid passport or national ID and a credit card in the driver's name are required at pickup.
3. Insurance & Liability
All rentals include basic third-party liability insurance as required by Maltese law. The renter is liable for damages up to the excess amount (€1,500 for standard vehicles). Full Insurance coverage can be purchased to eliminate the excess. Insurance does not cover damage to tires, windshield, undercarriage, interior, or damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. Failure to return with a full tank will result in a refueling charge at €2.50 per liter.
5. Mileage
Daily rentals include a mileage allowance as specified per vehicle category. Excess mileage is charged at the rate specified in the rental agreement. Long-term rentals of 30+ days include higher mileage allowances as specified in the plan.
6. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 48+ hours before pickup receive a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours incur a charge equal to one day's rental. No-shows are charged the full rental amount.
7. Late Returns
A grace period of 1 hour is permitted. After the grace period, each additional hour is charged at 25% of the daily rate, up to a maximum of one full additional day.
8. Traffic Violations
The renter is responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets, and toll charges incurred during the rental period. An administrative fee of €25 applies per violation.
9. Breakdown & Assistance
24/7 roadside assistance is included with all rentals. In the event of a breakdown, contact our emergency line immediately. A replacement vehicle will be provided subject to availability.
10. Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Malta. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Malta.
